If you have ever asked yourself, "Why didn't I think of that?" you're not alone. This concept and book came about as I struggled with my own weight over the last several years. I researched different diets and none of them really resonated with me. So, I began experimenting, and researching, and acting on that research. Before long, I realized how simple it was to lose weight, maintain my weight, and look at calories in a whole new light. Nothing fancy or complex; in fact, the ProportionFit Diet is plain and simple. Now my goal is to share the news with everyone. I'm not looking to sell memberships in clubs, prepackaged food, or other products. I do want to sell this knowledge (the book) at a reasonable price so that everyone can reap the rewards. After all, an ideal treatment for any problem, including weight management, should be inexpensive, reproducible, and effective. This book meets all three criteria.

So: Who am I? I was born and raised in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where I played Division I hockey, and then transferred to the University of Minnesota to pursue a medical career. I graduated from medical school at the University of Minnesota in 1997, completed my orthopaedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and then finished my training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Minnesota. I have been in practice at St. Croix Orthopaedics for over ten years, have a wonderful wife and three beautiful daughters, and have had the pleasure of caring for thousands of individuals in the St. Croix River Valley and beyond. In that time I have realized that others also struggle to maintain a healthy weight; some a little, others a lot. I am extremely excited to see others successfully manage their weight as I and so many others have through the ProportionFit Diet. When I used The ProportionFit Diet, my results were exactly as described: Predictable and steady. My weight had crept up to 213 pounds (I had been as high as 220) and I used the program to lose 16 pounds in 8 weeks. I have maintained that weight and others have too (I feel comfortable showing my results; it's hard to get others to agree to do the same). I tracked my weight on fitbit.com, and you can see how I used the diet starting in early April and ending around the first of June. These weights are reported from my wireless Fitbit scale at home, so there is no fudging the data--that's my weight over the year.
